Students are regularly mixed with the ascending and descending. I'll share something here with a colleague for whom I made a sign .
You need a crescent found frozen in grocery stores, those that swell in thawing. You show them one. You drop it on your desktop. At the end of the day, you return to growing children, noting that he grows, inflated.
Now, children only have to remember that the ascending order, beginning with small and big at the end, as the crescent. Descending ben ... it's another! :)
Even with big 3rd cycle, this stuff works. Just show them otherwise!
